That's what lipstick is to me: a first impression. Some may say that you can never judge a book by its cover, but you can tell a lot by what color lipstick it's wearing.. or she's wearing.

Lipstick is my absolute favorite item in the color world of cosmetics. It has the power to create a confidence that you never knew you had. It opens up a conversation for any fellow make-up lover and shows that you can be bold and classy at the same time.

Since I was a little girl, I remember loving lipsticks. I remember getting it all over my face - but what 5 year old isn't intrigued by a crayon that is meant to make you feel "beautiful." I remember my the most "rebellious" thing about my rebellious teenage stage was what color of lipstick I wore each day.

Oh I remember my perseverance in the on going battle against my parents - them on one side, me and my almost black but not actually black or obnoxiously over bearing bright red lipsticks on the other. Eventually, I came to my senses (for the most part). But that love for every pinky, red, purple colored lipstick still remains.

Daily Wears & Long Lasting Lips

My #1 go to, the lipstick that would describe my day to day personality is the Kat-Von-D Everlasting Matte Liquid Lip in the shade Lovesick. I can apply this lipstick at eight in the morning and by the end of the day it still looks amazing, my experience with this lipstick compares to no other just for the fact that I never have to touch it up.

A close second for a lip that is untouchable is the Too Faced Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick. I have this particular lipstick in the shade Stop Traffic. This is the perfect bold red for my skin color, a red that says "yeah I'm here for it, but not too much of it." It is a little darker than the typical bright red but we'll get there in a second.

Favorite Matte Lip Wear

The three matte lipsticks that I have pictures above all possess the same qualities: lasting longer than any lipstick I have ever tried, not chalky on the lip after hours of wear, and nearly impossible to get off.

However, each matte lipstick I listed also have a list of individual pros.

The Nars Powermatter Liquid Lipstick has a price point of $26 dollars and can only be found where Nars products are sold, commonly at Ulta and Sephora. The is the most comfortable matter I have ever put on my lips for sure. I have pictured the Powermatte in the shade "Don't Stop" because that is the shade I own & love. It is my perfect bright red bold lip I need on a Saturday night.

The Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain Lipstick - Matte Finish is pictured in the shade "Marvelous Mauve" because that is my favorite shade in this collection. This marvelous matte has a marvelous price point of $14, but is only found at Sephora since it is the "Sephora Collection." This is affordable price point compared to most prestigious liquid lipsticks, but still has one of the best qualities of a liquid matte in the entire Sephora store.

The last, but certainly not least is the Sephora Collection #Lipstories Matte Finish is a total of $8 and found in Sephora stores only. This is the most inexpensive matte finish I have found that is still considered high end. It is great quality and like I said before, last all day! I obviously only pictured shade I own in these lip products, so this shade is "After Hours." Its again a great bold red, but it isn't as bright as the Nars pigment I own. It is a darker red, which I still love.

All The Glosses & Plumpers

The Tarte H2O Gloss has a price of $19 and is one of the most pigmented glosses to exist. These glosses are super moisturizing and keep a radiant color throughout their wear. I love the color "Room Service" because I am obviously either a pinky mauve or flat out red kinda gal. Whenever I think glosses, I think softer looks - so I generally will choose a mauve-y pink for a gloss over a bright color gloss any day.

The Buxom Full-On Plumping Lip Cream Gloss has a price point of $21 and is worth every penny in my opinion. Out of their gloss collections, my favorite shade is "White Russian." Not only is this a beautiful gloss, but it also doubles as a lip plumper. During my employment at Sephora, I had a strange urge to try every single lip plumper in the store and see which ones just make your lips tingle and which ones actually make a difference.

There were two out of the entire store that, in my opinion, actually make a difference - this Buxom gloss & Too Faced Extreme Lip Plumper which you will see later on in this list!

This was on of the first lip glosses I ever tried as a real MakeUp Artist. For so long I was a matte only gal. If it was gloss, it was gross. But my have the tables turn. Gloss is a completely different ball game, a beautiful elegant ball game that brings a classy element to any look.

NARS Lip Gloss is set at $26 and also found anywhere NARS is sold, I generally buy from Sephora or Ulta. This lip gloss is super light and sparkly - I think the sparkles are what actually made me fall in love with this product. If you know me, you know I love anything sparkly, glittery, or shiny.

I mentioned this Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme earlier when speaking about one of the only true lip plumpers I have ever seen. This cool little guy is found at Sephora and Ulta and has a unique price range of $14-28. The name really is an indication of its tasks that it completes. This lip gloss has many statistics that say users who consistently use this product every day for 3-4 weeks will see a long term difference, but I have only tested its short term use and I think it's a pretty cool product.
